Criminal Quilts Cyanotype
This small artwork is created using cyanotype which is an old photographic process onto a small vintage linen cloth. I have hand embroidered details in fine yellow wool. The woman in the photo is Julia Bate, photographed in Stafford Prison in 1883.
The textile piece is 14cm (5.5in) square and the frame is 38cm (15in) square. The framed is a 2in deep box framed of limed wood and is a bespoke professionally-made frame. The mount is off white. Fittings for wall hanging are included. Unframed work is supplied mounted on board (stitched through the artwork onto the board).
