Image of Criminal Quilts Embroidered Images ONLINE workshop 14th Nov 2020

Saturday 14th November

You will have the chance to try some of the techniques Ruth uses to create her Criminal Quilts artworks. In this workshop you will learn how to embroider and embellish onto digital prints of archive photos from Stafford Prison. You will learn some new embroidery stitches to embellish and transform a black and white photograph into something completely original. Ruth will also share some ideas of what to do with your finished work.

Price includes one digital printed photograph on organic cotton (roughly A4 size) posted directly to you. You can add extra images at £5 (these will be different faces) along with biographical details about the women in the photos.

Hand embroidery experience necessary. This workshop includes some basic stitch demonstrations but not in-depth tuition on stitches.

Taught through videos and Zoom with supporting Facebook group.

Postage costs added at checkout depending on your location.

You will need to provide:
Embroidery threads in your chosen palette. Notes about colour palettes will be sent in advance so you can choose your own threads.

Needles, hoop (if used) and scissors.
Fabric scraps can be incorporated if you wish but these are not included. Further details will be provided when you book.

A bespoke box of vintage linen and silk threads is available from Linladan. Full details will be sent to you when this is ready.

This workshop will be delivered by online video (pre-recorded) and two short live Zoom sessions at 10am and 3pm. You will have access to the recorded videos for 7 days after the workshop.

You will also be able to join in with a private Facebook group to meet other participants and share what you have made. You will have access to this group for one month from the start of the workshop.

Introduction and online content released 10am
Concluding discussion 3pm

You can carry on working on your piece for as long as you like but support from me is only available on the day of the workshop.
