Silk handled trowel
Many people collect my tools pieces to remind them of loved ones. The first tools I transformed into artworks were ones that had belonged to my grandad. His shed full of bits and pieces and beautiful tools continue to inspire me. I want to give a new life to old and unappreciated tools, found objects and domestic bits and pieces.
Plasterers trowels are a fun challenge because of the flat blade. For this one I have bound the blade with antique handmade lace ribbon and covered the handle with naturally-dyed organic hemp-silk fabric using local plants. The end is finished with a hematite bead. The trowel is 20cm long
