Criminal Quilts Embroidery
Criminal Quilts is my project exploring the stories of women held in Stafford Prison 1877-1916. This embroidery of a hand outline is traced from a photograph of 51 year old Amelia May who was convicted in 1883 of larceny. Hand stitched on vintage linen cloth in old gold colour silk thread. Mounted on tan board. 40cm square. frame 43x43cm. (linen cloth 25cm square). £45 unframed, £50 framed. Please note first photo is accurate of the mount colour and the trimmed threads. Last photo was taken before completion on temporary background and with threads left trailing. These have now been removed.
